We throw the term, M.E.C.P.S around a lot without remembering that the first three letters actually stand for Medgar Evers College!

This past Summer, Mr. Rudolph "Rudy" Crew was appointed President to Medgar Evers College by the CUNY Board of Trustees. Mr. Crew has a bold vision for the future of MEC and part of that is to fully engage the surrounding community.

Please join us on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 6:00 pm in the MECPS Cafeteria as Mr. Crew introduces himself to the MECPS students, parents and staff. This is an extremely important meeting. As we mentioned at our last PTA meeting, we have ambitious goals: to increase our fundraising; promote and increase visibility of MECPS; and ensure that community is fully invested in our success.

We hope to see you here on Thursday - please bring another parent with you!

On behalf of the entire PTA Executive Board, we extend sincere thanks and appreciation for attending the first PTA meeting of the 2013-2014 school year this past Thursday.

We were humbled to see the overwhelming number of parents and staff in attendance. We would like to thank our special guests for the evening, NYC Councilmember and Public Advocate Candidate, Ms. Letitia James and the incoming Councilmember, Ms. Laurie Cumbo. Both Ms. James and Ms. Cumbo shared some inspirational words for our students and parents for a positive school year and they also asked questions on how they can help our school, MECPS, achieve our stated goals. We will certainly keep them busy!

There was a lot of information presented last Thursday. Please stay tuned as all of those flyers and handouts will be updated on our website, ptamecps.blogspot.com shortly.

it's been long time i shouldn't have left you....

Welcome Back to School Everyone! I hope everyone is ready to rock out this school and fulfill their potential. As for parents, we are just happy to have the house back again.

For the parents of new students (6th and 9th), the MECPS PTA welomes you to our community. The parents here are very involved and invested in their children's education. We are a supportive community that really bolsters each other. If you haven't made a parent 'friend' yet, we encourage to do so.

For the 2013-2014 school year, the PTA is planning many outreach events where you will have the opportunity to meet fellow parents and faculty. Please stay tuned for those updates.
